Making A Difference In Omak and Wenatchee

The Omak and Wenatchee offices of Career Path Services finally Made a Difference at the Okanogan Animal Shelter on June 5th.  Eight employees and volunteers arrived at the shelter, where 45 cats and kittens were voicing their opinion about being packed into a Dodge Durango for delivery to a shelter in the Seattle area.  While they generally quiet down once they have been on the road for a while, it is difficult for the shelter’s one paid employee, Patty, to handle them all on her own.

Our Omak office occasionally places a client for work experience at the shelter, and it is a weekly stop for our Community Access clients to volunteer and give the kitties some love and attention.  Patty was delighted to have so much help with the 45 cats.  She was equally excited to receive the $500 donation provided by Career Path Services, and will put it to very good use.

The day itself was one of hard work and learning experiences.  We went to work cleaning cages, changing cat bedding, mopping floors, wiping walls, filling food and water dishes, and scooping litter boxes.  A few of us worked to spruce up the outside areas.  Did you know that a cat brush works really well to remove hair from the carpeted cat towers?  In the end, the cats were on cloud nine with their clean surroundings.   In the end, Patty couldn’t believe all that we had accomplished in one day and was very grateful.  For our part, we came away feeling pleased to have given our time and effort to such a worthy agency.  Thank you Career Path Services for the opportunity to serve our community!
