Career Path Services’ King County Team enjoyed volunteering at the Compass Center through Operation Sack Lunch and also preparing lunch for the tent city we call Nicklesville.
Compass Center provides a range of services and housing options to people struggling with homelessness and poverty in the Seattle area. Compass Center operates day services, emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing, and family shelter at 19 locations around the Seattle Area.
Our energetic dream team spent the first part of the day preparing lunch for over 150 people. We all worked together making chicken pot pie casserole, salad, and hot apple turnovers from scratch. During the second half of the day, our team walked from the Compass Center to 6th and James underneath I-5 to serve lunch to homeless individuals. Recipients filled the day with many smiles and blessings while we served our community. At the end of the day, our dream team gathered to reflect on the lives of those we served and decided just a simple “hello” with a smile can make a difference in someone’s day.
We truly enjoyed getting the chance to hang out with some wonderful people as well as serving our community. We look forward to making a difference for those in need. See you next year!!!
