This month we are honoring LaRon Burris of New Connections as our Community Partner Ring The Bell Winner. For over a year now, Mr. Burris’ agency has been partnering with Career Path Services to help clients find employment after incarceration. Lynda Sauls, a Career Path Services practitioner, answered our questions regarding the organization’s relationship with New Connections:
(1) What makes your nominee a great partner?
Our interns are currently gaining relevant work experience at this work site. Mr. Burris will be assisting us with introductions to the employers New Connections currently work with to allow us to introduce our Career Jump Program to them. New Connections works with the incarcerated population and assists them with obtaining their driver’s license and employment. Mr. Burris has decided to partner with Career Path Services in order to serve the widest possible community of clients.
(2) What part of the community does your nominee serve?
New Connections works with parents and the incarcerated population.
(3) Do you have a story or example of how our partnership with New Connections has been successful?
Our interns are gaining relevant work experience at New Connections, and they have just hired on one of our clients in a part-time position for 25/hrs a week @$10/hr. This client was in the community jobs program and has been making great strides with New Connections.
(4) How long has your nominee been a partner of Career Path Services?
New Connections has been working with Career Path Services for the last year.
Peggy Dvorak, accounting/admin tech extraordinaire, joined the Spokane WIA team in November 2011. She needs to be busy, busy, (and busy). Her team continually expresses their appreciation for her work ethic. She works in Accounting, Admin, and Program Support taking multitasking to a new level.
Peggy is always thinking of and helping our clients by answering questions, giving them program information and forms, directing them to classes and/or their WorkSource Specialist. She assists the team with processing client registrations, enrollments, vouchers, and any and all support requests. After a client exits, she continues to support the team and the client by processing exits, verifying employment and corresponding with the clients. She does it all!
Peggy keeps us accountable and focused on detail by reviewing monthly reports and other Program Support processes. She works with tenacity, integrity, grace and a welcoming smile.
Although busy with work, family and knitting new creations, Peggy volunteers for various projects with a “can do” attitude.
Peggy, thank you for the great work you do for our team and congratulations on your “Ring the Bell” award!
