May 2013 Spotlight – Make A Difference Day

Posted on by careerpath

This month our spotlight shines on not one particular group, but the organization’s efforts to give back to the communities we live in.  One of the ways that we show appreciation is our participation in Make A Difference Day (MADD) in the spring of each year.  Thanks go to Trina from the Spokane Admin Team for putting these answers together.

1) Describe what Career Path Services does on MADD?

We join together as colleagues in giving back/paying it forward. We represent the “Spirit of Enriching Community”, part of our Vision Statement. We “Make a Difference” together! It gives everyone the opportunity to develop new and/or strengthen existing employer contacts while having FUN!

2) Who are the communities and people we serve through MADD?

We have served at MANY locations such as: Rescue Missions (prepping and preparing food); the Parks Department (cleaning up garbage along the Spokane River); One World Spokane (planted a community garden and served food to the less fortunate); Second Harvest Food Bank (boxed up food to be delivered to those in need); and Habitat for Humanity (painting and prep work for future home owners) . Because we volunteer as an organization, we make a big impact on communities all over Washington State.

3) Can you share some amazing facts or insights about MADD?

Its our job to set an example for the next generation. Inspiring our children to care and give back is our responsibility. Together we can do in just one day what it would take one person weeks to accomplish. Performing acts of kindness is a mood booster and proven to improve your health! It’s a great employee benefit to get paid for:  where else can you take a break, help our community, spend time outdoors, and have an amazing time?!
